Mourning the loss of Rob Wheatley
Rob Wheatley, ZCTC Head Tennis Pro from 2009-2016, passed away Thanksgiving evening, 2016, after an extended illness. We will miss his talent, humor, and friendship. His obituary is available at www.laketahoenews.net/2016/12/rob-wheatley-1949-2016/
Rob had more than 40 years of experience as a teaching pro, including the following accomplishments:
- Tennis director, Zephyr Cove Tennis Club, Zephyr Cove, NV, CA 2009-2016
- Tennis professional, The Reserve, Indian Wells, CA-Current
- Associate pro, La Quinta Resort, La Quinta, CA 2008-2011
- Tennis director, Club at Morningside, Ranch Mirage, CA 1999-2008
- Advisory staff member of Wilson and Fila Sports
- USPTA member and former vice president, San Diego Division
- Head tennis coach, College of the Desert, Palm Desert, CA
As a player, Rob was:
- 4-time National USPTA senior doubles champion (40, 45, 50, 55)
- 4-time National USTA singles semi-finalist grass (35- 40)
- and played on ATP Circuit in Europe, Asia, and Australia
